GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

On Monday night, the Guntersville city council got a chance to listen to what residents thought about a proposed arts and entertainment district.

The district would run from behind Gunter and Blount Avenues from the River Bridge to Worth Street.

Seven people spoke their opposition to the ordinance and approximately 20 stood when asked for who was opposed. Many opponents said their opposition was focused on alcohol.

Seven people also spoke in favor for an entertainment district, more than thirty stood in support when asked for who all supported it.

While alcohol was also addressed, they argued such a district would promote growth.

The decision is now in the hands of the council.
