HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Being a part of a military family comes with great pride, as well as great sacrifice. Whether a family member is serving overseas on the frontlines, traveling the country as a government contractor, or is a veteran, support for those at home is vital. That's where the Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation comes in.
Stephanie Stone is with Family MWR. She said "it gives them some peace of mind to know that their family members are looked after and taken care of."
That peace of mind goes a long way, helping to relieve stress and allowing them to focus on their duty. Stone remarked, "It increases morale, keeps our army ready and resilient.
The Family MWR on Redstone Arsenal is responsible for things on post like bingo, swim lessons at the aquatic center, and even the big Oktoberfest, which is fast approaching. Oktoberfest will be held September 12th-15th on the community activity field. The festival is open to the public.
It's easy to see that Family MWR solidifies the bond that runs deep throughout the military, tying families together and creating a strong community.
