HAMILTON, AL (WAFF) -

Alabama Department of Corrections officials reported that they are looking for an inmate who escaped from a work release center in Hamilton.

Authorities said Michael Orton, 39, fled the Hamilton Community Work Center and has been missing since Saturday evening.

AL.com reported he was last seen wearing blue denim shorts and no shirt. Orton is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, and has green eyes and brown hair.

Orton was sentenced to 10 years for manufacturing a controlled substance in 2012. He was booked into Madison County Jail in July of that year with a bond of $1,000,000.

The Department of Corrections's website says the Hamilton Community Work Center employs inmates in physical labor, furniture manufacturing, mobile home construction, and storm window and door production. The facility can house 264 inmates.

Hamilton is about 55 miles southwest of Florence.
