HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police are investigating the death of a man found assaulted in an apartment complex parking lot.

Isabel Gomes, 44, was beaten to death at the Continental Apartment son Boxwood Drive. His body was found lying in the parking lot around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Police have not released much information, but they are calling in a death investigation, and not a murder.

One woman's family found Gomes' body lying in the parking lot and called police. She acted as a translator for officers as they questioned people who live at the complex.

Neighbors said the death is shocking and scary. They said on weekends people party, and sometimes fights break out. But they said it has never ended with someone getting killed.

"At first I didn't want to come out because I was scared. I didn't want to see him," said neighbor Ashley Martinez. "When I came out I saw his face was really bruised and there was blood everywhere. There was even blood splattered on two cars. It was pretty scary."

Police are looking to question the victim's brother in connection with his death. They are looking for 39-year-old Miguel Gomes, who may be driving a white four-door car, possibly a late 90's model Infinity.
