ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The governor made a trip to Marshall County where they are celebrating the official grand opening of a tier one automotive manufacturing supplier.

Governor Robert Bentley was part of the ribbon cutting Friday morning at Newman Technology.

The company is an automotive supplier to Honda in Lincoln. They supply door sashes, window trim, and exhaust systems.

The company began construction of the 120,000 square foot facility last year and began mass production this year in January, while adding an additional 100 jobs this month.

The governor said it's the automotive industry that's thrived in the state and Newman Technology was a perfect fit.

"This modern plant here is going to employ sixty something employees and they just today announced an expansion of that today while we were here. So we're excited to be in Marshall County and Albertville to announce these new jobs and have this ribbon cutting," said Gov. Bentley.

The company also celebrated by presenting a $10,000 check to Mayor Tracy Honea that will go to the Albertville school system.
