HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) -

A man was shot in the shoulder by his girlfriend at a gas station in Hartselle Wednesday morning.

Police are looking for Amanda Westmoreland Engle in connection with the shooting, which happened around 5 a.m. off of Highway 31. Authorities said she is driving a red 1995 Ford Taurus that belongs to the victim's mother, with the license plate number 52G17Y1.

Officers said the incident started as an argument between the couple, who were driving through town. They pulled into the Exxon gas station at the intersection of Highway 31 and 36 to cool off, but the argument escalated. The Engle ended up shooting the man in the shoulder. He went inside the gas station, and the clerk called 911.

The man was taken to Huntsville Hospital. Police said his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

If you have any information about Engle, call Hartselle Police Department at 256-773-6534.
