MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Emergency responders trained for a possible gunmen in a school in Madison.

Police, fire fighters and the school system worked together during the training exercise at Liberty Middle School.

According to police, the training is an effort to get all the departments on the same page if an emergency ever strikes again in a Madison city school.

Tuesday's training also shows new communication equipment is working better than before.

"Communication has been outstanding. Got a new radio system, in the past it's been tough to talk to officers in a school building. We've had no issues with that today. Absolutely wonderful," said Captain John Stringer with the Madison Police Dept.

In addition to communication, Tuesday's training dealt with clearing a school building in emergency situations.
