Decatur murder suspect arrested in Detroit

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

U.S. Marshals took a man wanted for a Decatur murder into custody in Detroit, Michigan.

Investigators said Ryan Oneal Caudle is a suspect in the June 18 shooting death of James Patrick Travers II.

Travers was shot in the back with a shotgun as he tried to escape a home on Mitchell Pines Train SE during a home invasion. He collapsed on Highway 31 where he was found by a motorist.

According to police, Caudle fled the state before he was developed as a suspect. Caudle was located in Detroit and was taken into custody without incident.

Decatur detectives traveled to Michigan to interview Caudle. He's being held in the Wayne County Jail and will be extradited to Alabama.
