NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A late-night traffic ticket and what followed has many on Lower Broadway, including its many musicians, taking action.

Video of the police response to the incident early Friday has thousands of views online and has even sparked a movement to free the man who captured it.

Police arrested that man and two other musicians when a traffic issue became much more.

"We're known for being friendly. And if we can't be friendly to our own musicians, then we have a problem," said Dave Pomeroy, president of the Nashville Musicians Association.

According to Metro police, a woman double-parked along Broadway early Friday so a friend could load his gear after playing at Layla's.

Things escalated, however, when several musicians confronted the officers, and one of them, Jeffrey Marcom, shot video of the run-in with police.

"We've been trying to promote respect for musicians on Lower Broadway for some time, starting with going to the city and having them create the musicians' loading zones," Pomeroy said.

That could be the problem in this case.

Some witnesses said a taxi occupied the loading zone early Friday, leading to the citation and the scuffle.

Metro police confirmed the officers' actions remain under review.

Police arrested Marcom and two other men, Matthew Paige and Gaelen Mitchell, who face charges of resisting arrest.

Paige also faces a vandalism charge after he was accused of damaging a police cruiser with his amplifier

Mitchell and Paige will be in court Wednesday to answer their charges.

Marcom pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor drug charge and will serve a year of probation.
