SECTION, AL (WAFF) -

Some residents around Section are concerned about a traffic hazard on Highway 35 coming up the mountain from Scottsboro.

The hazard is not other vehicles, but rather, trees. Residents said that more often, trees are leaning over the highway, and they fear those trees could fall into the roadway.

Charles Fossett said he knows of one person's car that has been hit by a falling tree, and he sees other trees having to be cut away from the roadway. He is concerned someone else could be next, and he's worried it could be someone close to him.

"I've got children and grandchildren going up and down that mountain every day. This is dangerous," said Fossett.

Alabama Department of Transportation engineer Johnny Harris said they will be sending a crew to the area to assess the situation as early as next week.
