ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

An Albertville man has been arrested in connection with a Thursday evening shooting.

The suspect, Justin Ray Jones, appeared before a Marshall County judge Friday, charged with attempted murder.

Albertville Police said they received a call of a domestic disturbance on Blessing Road around 8 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they heard shots fired. 52-year-old Kimberly Mayfield came out of the home with a gunshot wound to the back. She was taken to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the suspect came out of the home and fell off the porch. Police described him as "heavily intoxicated."

Mayfield is currently recovering at Marshall Medical Center with serious injuries. "I think she was missing some teeth. She had been cut a couple of times across the head and face, and then obviously the gunshot wound," described Assistant Chief Jamie Smith.

Jones is expected to be transported to the Marshall County Jail, where bond is set at $1 million.
