ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The City of Albertville may be a step closer to stopping a leaky casket in a mausoleum at a local cemetery. Officials said they made progress once they located the deceased's next of kin.

City officials are now trying to determine the best way to resolve the problem of a leaky casket at Memory Hill Cemetery. Stains remain where fluids have been leaking from a casket placed at the top of the mausoleum. Meanwhile, city crews have been working to keep the place cleaned up.

Mayor Tracy Honea said that through the Gadsden funeral home that handled the arrangements, they've been able to get in touch with the casket company. The company is expected to work with a local funeral home in resolving the problem, but the details have not yet been finalized.

Mayor Honea said they hope to have a better idea on how and when a resolution will happen sometime next week.
