EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A Plano mother, driving through East Texas on Interstate 20, died after her car was struck by debris from an 18-wheeler.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Zackquelyn Johnson, 33, was traveling east on I-20 near mile marker 538 on Saturday with her three children when a brake drum from a semi disintegrated, striking her car. Johnson died on Monday from her injuries. Her one-year-old child was also hospitalized after the accident.

The semi kept driving after the collision, likely not knowing anything had happened. Officials say charges are not likely to be filed against the driver, however they are trying to contact him or her.

Some eyewitnesses say the bed of the truck, described as newer-model gray semi, may have been hauling a flatbed trailer with equipment on it.
