2 arrested in Morgan Co. meth bust

MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Sheriff's deputies arrested two people on drug charges after a meth bust at a residence in Morgan County.

On Wednesday, deputies said they smelled a strong odor associated with the meth manufacturing process when they executed misdemeanor warrants at a residence on St. John Road.

Authorities discovered a glass jar with a clear liquid inside that tested positive for meth, coffee filters containing a white powder that also tested positive for meth, empty pseudoephedrine blister packs and empty iodine bottles, along with other components used to make meth.

Deputies said a juvenile was present inside the residence. The juvenile was released into the care of the grandmother after going through decontamination from being exposed to the manufacturing of meth.

Andy Derrick Cluxton and Anna Burden were arrested and charged with first degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, trafficking methamphetamine and felony drug paraphernalia. Cluxton was additionally charged with drug endangerment of a child.

Both suspects were transported to the Morgan County Jail. Bond for Cluxton was set at $1,010,000. Burden is being held under a $1,007,500 bond.

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
