CROSSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A new Valley school will not open on time, and it's costing the DeKalb County School District more money.

Crossville's new K-3 building was scheduled to open at the beginning of the school year, but crews have been forced to stall their work due to a damaged electrical panel. The panel came from GE in Mexico. It arrived to the job site damaged, so now it is heading to North Carolina to be repaired.

The school district has to continue holding furniture in storage until the panel is installed and work on the building can be completed.

The building is now scheduled to be ready by September.
