ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

A tip from the public led to the Tuesday arrest of an Athens man who had 26 gambling machines in his home.

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said he doesn't believe all of the machines were in use, and that it isn't the first time they've come across the machines. He said his department relies on tips like the one they received.

In addition to the machines, Athens Police also seized more than $2,000. Investigators arrested and charged Archie Gilbert with possession of gambling devices.

The chief said the suspect is cooperating with Athens Police.
