Posted: Updated:
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The case against a Huntsville City Schools choir director charged with child abuse, is headed to a grand jury.

Cleopha Pair waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning. Police arrested Pair in May after investigators said a two-year-old suffered third degree burns on his hands while under Pair's care.

The Huntsville City Schools choir director charged with child torture is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. Lawyers will present their evidence before a judge in this preliminary hearing.

Pair is a former choral director at Butler High School. School officials placed him on administrative leave after his arrest, but he later resigned.
