MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A trial date is now set in the child sexual abuse case of a Montgomery man whom authorities believe met his alleged victims through one of the city's largest church congregations.

Andrew Bartels, also known as Andy, will see his trial start on August 27, 2013 in Judge Charles Price's courtroom.

Bartels, 38, was arrested in October 2012 and later indicted on three counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age.

At the time of his arrest, Bartels was a member of Frazer United Methodist Church and was listed on the church's website as being the leader of the "Samurai Love Tank" Sunday School class for members in the 20-30 age range.

Frazer later issued a statement saying it was cooperating with the investigation.

Bartels was also employed by Troy University Montgomery as a Campus Web Coordinator until three days after his arrest.

Court records show more than 20 people are listed as witnesses in the case.

WSFA 12 News will have more information on this case as it develops.
