CULLMAN COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

An elderly woman who had been missing since Sunday survived a stormy night in the woods before being found on Monday.

Eala Dooley Freeman, 76, was found about a mile from her home. Freeman, who goes by "Juanita," was last seen near Macedonia Church in the Cold Springs area between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday.

The Cullman County Sheriff's Office said she had a small black and brown dog with her when she was last seen and was wearing dress slacks and a blouse.

Her neighbors hadn't seen her in a while, so they called her son. After the sheriff's office was notified, they located Freeman in the woods in about an hour.

Officials say she had been in the woods all night and endured the stormy weather. She was dehydrated when found but expected to be OK.

An ATV carried Freeman out of the woods and she was later transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center.
