HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Madison County officials would like to remind drivers about a road project that may impact traffic.

Starting Monday, a section of Blake Bottom Road, just east of Jeff Road, will close for new bridge construction over Indian Creek for the next four months. Officials said the new bridge will almost double the size of the current bridge, which was built in the 1930s.

Alternate routes include Bishop Road or Indian Creek, Old Monrovia, Douglass or Jeff Roads. Detour signs will be placed in the construction zone.

The road closure is expected to affect some 11,000 daily commuters who use Blake Bottom Road. County officials advise that you allow more drive time and select alternative routes.
