Morgan Co. cyclist struck, killed by pickup

PRICEVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Morgan County man was killed Saturday morning when a pickup truck hit him.

According to a witness on the scene, the 60-year-old Walter Ham of Trinity was riding a bicycle on East Upper River Road just east of Priceville. He was struck by a pickup truck driven by 84-year-old Rufus Nix just before 8:30 a.m.

Witnesses said the force of the collision threw Ham at least 80 feet. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Nix was uninjured.

The driver claimed not to have seen the cyclist, who was wearing brightly-colored clothing.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the incident. No charges have been filed yet.
