Safety tips for dealing with door-to-door salespeople

With the warm weather this time of year, it isn't uncommon for sales people to come to your door. The Better Business Bureau has tips for protecting yourself against fraudulent operators.

First, talk with the salesperson outside. Don't give them any personal information, and ask for some identification.

In Madison County, door-to-door salespeople are required to have a license and photo ID.

Belinda McCormick of the Better Business Bureau said "Every employee, not just the company, is registered. Each employee is also. This is for our protection as citizens to make sure there's been a background check on these people that are trying to come into our home."
