Spray concerns

Most counties will spray neighborhoods to help prevent large mosquito populations.

For those concerned about health issues related to spraying, WAFF spoke to a representative of Madison County Vector Control. The spray they use, called Aqua-Reslin, contains a chemical called permethrin that breaks down very quickly and does not pose big risks to humans or the environment.

The EPA has done tests on permethrin, and the only major concern they have found is with instances of high exposure, such as in the event of an accident or spill.
