WHITTON, AL (WAFF) -

An attempt to serve a warrant to one Whitton community resident resulted in the arrest of five, when meth labs were discovered inside a house Friday.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris, the bust began when they went to serve a warrant on 59-year-old William Baker. Baker apparently saw them and ran indoors. Deputies chased him, and soon found two other men inside: Anthony Andrews and John Grandstaff.

Then, investigators discovered a trapdoor in the floor. Inside the crawl space underneath, investigators discovered meth labs, chemicals, and two more people – James Hathcock and Rachel Anderson.

The five people are facing a slew of charges including drug possession and drug manufacturing.
