HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Food trucks will arrive in downtown Huntsville Thursday night.

Three weeks ago, the Huntsville City Council approved an ordinance that allows food trucks to park in designated spots downtown, but the trucks will only be allowed to park there at night.

The ordinance allows them to serve people downtown from 9 p.m. To 2 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The trucks will be located on Clinton Avenue and on Meridian Street across from The Lumberyard.

City officials said they went with these hours because they didn't want to create any competition between food trucks and restaurants.

The new entertainment districts run from 5 -10 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights.

The food truck hours overlap the districts by an hour.
