STEVENSON, AL (WAFF) -

Wednesday evening was a time for reflection and remembrance, as five Stevenson residents were honored at a memorial service marking the seventeenth anniversary of their deaths.

A service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Kentucky Avenue in Stevenson.

Tom Weatherby, Joe Scott, Mike Scott, Barbara Scott and Brenda Privette, all of the small Alabama town, were among the 230 people who were killed on TWA Flight 800.

The plane crashed in 1996. The Europe-bound Boeing 747 exploded just off the coast of Long Island, New York. Investigations later determined the explosion likely emanated from a fuel tank.
