GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison man is waiting for confirmation that he caught a record-setting carp.

Brad Stephens caught the 80 pound fish grass carp while bow-fishing on Lake Guntersville overnight.

Stephens said he was told it was a state record, beating the old record of 73 pounds.

He's also in the process of seeing if the fish might be a world record for a grass carp.

Stephens took the fish home and is keeping it in the freezer.
