MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The Madison County Health Department handed the Waffle House on Hughes Road in Madison an 81. The health inspector reported temperature problems, with some cold-holding food too warm, and some hot-holding food too cold.
Food that is out of temperature is said to be in the food danger zone because it has the potential for bacterial growth. The inspector reported eggs were held at 68 degrees Fahrenheit, 27 degrees above the maximum 41 degree temperature required for cold-holding foods.
The inspector also discovered sausage gravy at 99 degrees, 36 degrees below the minimum temperature required for hot-holding foods.
The Waffle House also lost points because of excess grease on the ground at the grease bin.
