HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Two children found a loaded gun in Huntsville while walking along a creek late Tuesday afternoon. According to police, no one was hurt.

Authorities said the two boys found a loaded .45 caliber handgun while walking along a creek near Delia Lane. Police are investigating how the gun got there.

One boy is nine-years-old, the other is twelve. One of the boys knew how to unload the gun and took it to their grandmother. She said she hopes this is a lesson for other kids.

"I hope any child who is playing in a place and finds a gun, brings it to someone older or leaves it right where it is. Go home, get a parent, grandparent, any older adult to come and get it so it can be taken care of," said the boys' grandmother, Kim Grzybowski.
