MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Divers have recovered the body of a 13-year-old who fell into the water while awaiting crews to rescue an older boy from the same swimming area.

A call came in around 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening to assist a 15-year-old that had fallen into the water near Martling Road in the Asbury community. A rescue team and an ambulance arrived at the scene to render aid.

At some point during the incident, a 13-year-old reportedly fell into the water and never resurfaced. Around 6:20 p.m., divers were being called to the scene to recover the teen. His body was later found about 40 to 50 feet from where he initially fell in.

During the mission, a rescue worker began experiencing chest pains and was taken to the hospital.

The 15-year-old was brought out of the water alive and taken to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
