More than 450 marijuana plants were seized during a mid-summer eradication program conducted by several law enforcement agencies, according to DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris.

Authorities arrested Eddie Lamar McKinney, 53 of Fort Payne, after finding more than 100 plants just west of Fort Payne.

McKinney was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center on a $10,500 bond.

Near Mentone, over 350 plants were discovered Wednesday.  Investigators expect to make an arrest in that case soon.

A total of 459 plants were seized in four different locations during the two-day operation. Street value of the destroyed plants was estimated at around $900,000.

"We appreciate the state continuing this program and we believe this shows how effective it can be. We do this every year at least two or three times and this find was typical. We will continue to search for drugs and follow-up on these discoveries. Our agents have leads on other drugs and they continue to make arrests almost daily. We intend to keep the pressure on these drug dealers," said Sheriff Harris.
