ARAB, AL (WAFF) -

Progress appears to be made in the case of a former Arab golf course left to deteriorate.

Arab Mayor Bob Joslin gave property owner Bill Pike 20 days to clean the area up, and so far, he is doing just that. Pictures of the course taken Thursday show the removal of weeds that had grown to be up to five feet tall.

Approximately 70 percent of the green appeared to be mowed down. Cutting overgrowth removes the risk of people encountering snakes and predatory insects.

The mayor also said there is a chance a buyer for the property may have been found who is willing to turn the property back into a functioning golf course.
