MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Overnight storms caused damage throughout Madison County, bringing down trees and power lines.

In Huntsville, water covered Stanhope Drive and Washington Street. A tree landed on Randolph Avenue in Huntsville, blocking traffic.

Joe Quick Road was shut down between Bullard Road and Jimmy Fisk Road as utility crews worked to clear downed power lines.

Police told people to avoid Shelton Road in Madison due to flooding.

And in Gurley, Rock Cut Road was closed to all traffic and Little Cove Road also ended up under water.

According to Huntsville Utilities, several hundred people were still without power Thursday morning due to outages from the thunderstorms.

Utility crews worked through the night repairing electrical equipment damaged by lightning and falling trees.

Huntsville Utilities said there are no large outages at this time but that there are multiple outages in the Hazel Green and southwest Madison County area.

Crews are continuing to work to restore services.
