PRESCOTT, AZ (CBS5) -

Families are now allowed back to their homes, while the memorials for each fallen firefighter are underway. Many of the visitors are leaving the area, but for the locals, this is still far from over.

Prescott High School, once the fire's incident command post, and then the spot for a massive vigil, now has its doors open for the honor guard, and other first responders.

"Funerals will continue Wednesday through Saturday and a number of things are involved with that," said Bruce Palmer with the Forest Service. He said they will be helping out with escorts and processions.

"That will typically start to ramp down this weekend but there will be people here to help as long as that help is requested," Palmer said.

The help includes aerial support, like the National Guard C130 taking two of the fallen firefighters to their families in California. It arrived at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, CA, where the families will be greeted and escorted by firefighters and honor guard.

Back at the memorial at Fire Station 7, folks still gather for a moment of reflection, and prayer as Prescott settles into a new normal.

"It'll never be over, this is going to be here for the rest of our lives, and for the 51 children that are fatherless now, the community will be behind them and the nation is behind them, too," said Jose Peralta.
