Flames engulf Morgan County home

MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Brindlee Mountain volunteer firefighters were called Tuesday night to a house fire in Morgan County.

No one was at home at the time, but the electricity was still on when the fire broke out.

Firefighters battled the flames that raged in the Leslie Willis Road home. The first firefighter on the scene said he saw smoke and flames from as far as two miles away.

The fire was so hot that the firefighters had to move their trucks farther away, afraid that the heat would melt their vehicles.

The Florette Volunteer Fire Department provided backup, and a total of ten volunteer firefighters helped put out the blaze. This took around two hours.

No one was hurt. Firefighters may return to the scene later on Wednesday to check out hot spots that may still be smoldering.
