MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department is investigating the city's 30th homicide of 2013.

The homicide took place at the Patterson Court housing project between S. Union Street and Decatur Street Tuesday evening.

Witnesses reported hearing several rounds of gunfire, and seeing men running with handguns away from the scene.

Neighbors tell WSFA 12 News the shooting victim was a young mother whose children may have witnessed the violence.

The Montgomery Police Department is not releasing much information about the shooting at this point. WSFA 12 News is working to gather additional details regarding this case. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
