ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

A Limestone County judge set a new trial date for a former Madison Police officer facing 17 counts of sexual abuse.

William Watson's trial was initially scheduled for April.

Limestone County Sheriff's Investigators say Watson sexually abused four young girls.

Madison Police officials placed Watson on administrative leave. He resigned from the department a short time later.
