Today, the Athens City Schools Superintendent will announce plans to upgrade and improve the district's schools.
The Madison Police Department is seeking information in an early-morning hit-and-run.
A vehicle struck a bicyclist at 3:30 a.m. Monday in the westbound lanes of Madison Boulevard near Flagstone Drive. The victim has been identified as Richard Claus II, 20 of Madison.
Police said Claus managed to crawl to the median. Investigators said he may have laid there for a while before someone saw him and called police.
HEMSI took Claus to the hospital. He has broken bones as well as cuts and bruises and is in serious condition.
The road was blocked from Research Boulevard to Colonial Grand Apartments, but it has since been reopened.
Madison Police said the vehicle is white or light colored and believed to have damage to the left front and possible damage to the windshield.
