Furloughs kick in, Redstone Arsenal to feel effect

Posted: Updated:

Good Monday morning!

Here's what we're working on in the WAFF Newsroom:

Today, the Department of Defense furloughs kick in. 650,000 employees will be affected. Civilian Pentagon workers are being forced to take a 20% pay cut by having one unpaid day off each week through September 21st. The furloughs are expected to save $1.8 billion dollars. http://bit.ly/11qr2nT

This morning beginning at 5AM Reporter Lauren Morrison will show you how these furloughs will have a big impact on the Redstone Arsenal.

We're also working on a story out of Florence this morning. Today, a Lauderdale County Judge will rule on whether 13 pit bulls involved in a dog fighting ring should be euthanized. That hearing starts at 9AM.  We'll have details on this story all morning long beginning at 5AM.

And finally, Meteorologist Jeff Castle will have your work week forecast, which includes more rain.

Have a wonderful day,

Tiani Jones
