Huntsville JROTC member receives national recognition

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Huntsville High School JROTC Cadet Major will be honored with a national award Monday.

Victoria Offei-Dua was named Outstanding Cadet of 2013 by the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution. Only one cadet receives this title each year. This is the first time an Alabama student has been selected to receive the prestigious award.

Offei-Dua starts her senior year at HHS this fall and has been selected as the incoming Corp Commander. She is Top Cadet at the high school and ranked third overall in her academic class.

She will receive her award Monday at the NS-SARN Congress in Kansas City. The Outstanding Cadet award comes complete with a medal, certificate of honor, and a check for $1,000.

    Three adult males and one juvenile were arrested in Limestone County on Thursday after a four-hour manhunt and charged with multiple counts stemming from a string of vehicle thefts.Three adult males and one juvenile were arrested in Limestone County on Thursday after a four-hour manhunt and charged with multiple counts stemming from a string of vehicle thefts.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
