MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Most roads closed by heavy rains in north Alabama have reopened, but two in Morgan County will take several days or longer to repair.

A portion of the road is closed just south of Vaughn Bridge. Flood waters dislodged drainage pipes underneath the road and sent them into a nearby yard, demolishing a fence and sending large rocks and other debris into the property.

The owner of that property, Mark Fischer, said it was an impressive sight. "I had never seen the water come over the road like that. The road was pretty level from here to Vaughn Bridge," Fischer said.

Morgan County Commissioner Randy Vest said that Danville Road near Danville High School and Forest Chapel Road developed sinkholes from the flooding. He said repairs could take until the end of next week, primarily because they are waiting on necessary materials to complete the work.
