DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Cleanup efforts continued Friday at a Decatur apartment complex. Thursday's storm flooded more than a dozen people out of their homes.

Nearly the entire ground floor of the complex is ruined, including the unit that belonged to Zandra Mason. The first thing noticeable when you walk inside is the smell: musty and sour. Mason said the flood waters rose several feet inside before receding.

"Water just went through the door," said Mason. "My son had to crawl out."

An insurance company came to take photos of the damage Friday. Mason is staying with friends for the time being and is waiting to hear if the complex will help replace any of her belongings.

She says that come Saturday morning, she will start over at square one.
