Opp, AL (WSFA) -

The Opp Police Department says it has arrested and charged a man with abuse of his young daughter.

Detectives took Dwaine Tyson, 37, into custody on July 1 after receiving a report of child abuse that is alleged to have taken place at his home during the previous weekend on June 28.

Investigators say the Crenshaw County Department of Human Resources obtained information that the girl, 8, was being physically abused by her father during child visitation.

Tyson is charged with torture and willful abuse of a child.

The case remains under investigation by the Crenshaw and Covington County DHR offices as well as Opp Police.
