ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Two people were hospitalized after they were thrown from the bed of a pickup truck in a Marshall County wreck Wednesday.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 431 in front of the Crossroads Mall. Albertville Police said the pickup was traveling south and made a turn into northbound traffic as they were attempting to travel onto Mall Street. A car traveling north on 431 then struck the pickup as it made its turn.

20 year-old Matthew Nathaniel McCollum and 19 year-old Taylor Shae Sims, both of Horton, were transported to Marshall Medical Center after they were thrown from the truck bed.

McCollum remains in critical condition as of Thursday. Sims was released from the hospital.
