Nation mourns firefighters lost in AZ wildfire; ‘double trouble' for students with college loan debt

Good Monday evening! Here are just a few of the stories we're working on for WAFF 48 News at 10…

As the nation mourns the deaths of 19 firefighters who were battling a wildfire out in Arizona, the loss hits especially hard for firefighters here in North Alabama. WAFF 48's Shumuriel Ratliff spoke to some of our brave firefighters to get their perspective on the techniques and sacrifices made by the brave people out West.

We're also continuing to follow the "double trouble" many college students across the country and the Valley are now facing as our nation's lawmakers failed to pass a measure lowering the interest rate on student loans. WAFF 48's Charles Molineaux talked to Congressman Mo Brooks, as well as local college students, about this double dose of bad news.

And we'll also give you a chance to test your vision to see if you recognize a crook stealing eyeglass frames from a Huntsville optometrist's office. With this great surveillance video, you'll be seeing "20-20" when it comes to earning a cash reward.

We hope you'll join us for these stories and more tonight at 10.

See you then!
