2 arrested on meth, child endangerment charges

Authorities arrested two people after a meth bust in Morgan County on Wednesday, June 26th.

Agents received several complaints about meth being produced with children present at a residence on Danville Road in Hartselle.

Authorities arrested Mary Charlene Smith, 41, and Keith Adrian Smith, 43, after agents discovered a partial meth lab, meth, and components used to make meth.

Both suspects were arrested for unlawful manufacturing and possession of a controlled substance. Keith Smith had prior meth related convictions and was also charged with 13 counts of illegal purchase of pseudoephedrine.

The children have been removed and are staying with a relative. DHR is continuing to investigate.

On July 1st, a new charge was added for two counts of drug endangered child. An additional $30,000 for each count was added to the original bonds of $506,400 for Keith Smith and $52,500 for Mary Smith.

Keith Smith is currently in the Morgan County Jail and warrants have been issued for Mary Smith.
