Baton Rouge Council on Aging still needs more fan donations

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Baton Rouge Council on Aging still needs more than 100 fans to reach its goal and help meet the needs of area senior citizens during warm weather.

The group is trying to collect at total of 450 fans, which was the same amount gathered last year.  Fans can be dropped off at any St. George Fire Station and will be given to a senior citizen in need.  Donations will be accepted through the start of July.

"It's important for us to be able to reach out to the community, and for the community to be able to give back and support our senior community," COA Director of Resource Development Corey Williams said.  "As everyone knows, we'll all get old one day, so its important that we're reaching back but also reaching ahead to make community safe for seniors."

The Xquizit Club of Baton Rouge helped the COA reach its goal Saturday by dropping off dozens of fans at the St. George Fire Station on Jefferson Highway.
