RAINSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Rainsville's police chief and investigator have given notice that they plan to sue the city. They cite problems with their boss, the mayor, as cause for action.

A claim notice has been filed against the City of Rainsville by Police Chief Charles Centers and Investigator Stephen Dutton. Both men claim discrimination, harassment and creation of a hostile work environment by Mayor Nick Jones.

Without going into specific details, both men claim the issues began December 1, 2012, and have been ongoing ever since. The men also claim Mayor Jones has illegally intruded into the powers of their police duties as well as interfered with police investigations. Dutton alleges he was illegally demoted.

Chief Centers has declined comment in the matter. Calls to Mayor Jones were not returned.
