Storm damage reported in Fyffe

FYFFE, AL (WAFF) -

Areas in the town of Fyffe sustained storm damage after Thursday's round of early morning thunderstorms.

The park area was hit by the storms. The roof at the new pavilion and a roof of a baseball field dugout were both blown off. EMA officials said an antennae at a city radio dispatch was also damaged but quickly fixed.

A potato shed at a saw mill located in the Antioch community three miles from Fyffe, was also destroyed.

EMA officials are still determining what kind of storm it was. Right now, they think it might have been a micro-burst.

"The National Weather Service tells us when those storms collapse, they run their course and when they collapse they result in some pretty intense wind," said DeKalb County EMA Director, Anthony Clifton.

No word on when the damage at the park will be cleaned up.
