HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville City Schools will save hundreds of thousands of dollars under a new lawn care contract.

School board members called a special session Friday morning. Dr. Casey Wardynski said the main reason for the meeting was to approve an audit report that was presented at the previous regularly scheduled meeting.

Members approved the audit and it will now be sent the state for approval. Dr. Wardynski said it was a clean report with no findings.

Board members also approved a contract with a new landscaping company. The company will maintain the grounds of all Huntsville City Schools.

Of the new contract, Dr. Wardynski said, "We had some more competition this year, so our cost of the contract will go down by about 1.3 million to 1.08 million, so a pretty good savings there.

The board also approved the hiring of a new principal for Rolling Hills Elementary School.
